for a quick bite and the combination is just right. Happy eating.
Tostadas Estilo

servings of 3 tostadas per person
Difficulty: (basic)
Preparation: Not counting the preparation of the beans, 20
minutes to prepare ingredients and then serve
Special Equipment: None required

One dozen fresh corn
tortillas fried in oil until crispy, then drain on paper towels. If you can't
find them, buy a package of corn tortillas already fried.
Ingredients and preparation:
1 head of lettuce, shredded
2 tomatoes, large and diced
1 bunch small onions, diced
or if you prefer large onion
2 avocados sliced lengthwise
Package of yellow cheese,
grated or buy package of already grated
Package of jalapeno jack
cheese, grated
Refried beans and of
preference comes when you make a pot of beans. These beans are the tastiest
when refried in just a bit of bacon. If this is not possible, a can of refried
beans is just as great.
2 different salsas,
preference is green, but red is just as nice
4 limes, cut to drizzle over
lettuce. Tastes wonderful
Sprigs of cilantro to add
extra flavor
What is most fun is to have
a tostada assembly line. Just build as you would like it.
I personally like to get my
tostada and put refried beans on it, top it off with some cheese,
lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese again and then avocado slices, drizzle lime
juice over it, cilantro, salsa. | |
