Denuncian Racismo en Escuela
de Mesa

ARIZONA (By Alejandra Espinoza, Prensa Hispana) February 22, 2004 - El Comité de Familias
Inmigrantes en Acción, exige mejoras educativas en la escuela Elemental Emerson
de esa ciudad, y la destitución de su director Mark Bank Head, a quien acusan de
racista.
Durante su reunión semanal, más de 50 madres de familia coincidieron en señalar
que en la escuela Emerson, reina la discriminación racial ya que los niños y
padres hispanos son relegados por los propios maestros, inclusive por el
director.
‘’Estamos muy molestas por la situación, como padres de familia exigimos un
cambio. Los maestros no se comunican con nosotros porque piensan que somos
ignorantes, no hay programas después de clases como en cualquier otra escuela y
la calidad de educación que se da a los niños hispanos es muy inferior en
comparación con la que reciben el resto del alumnado’’, dijo a PRENSA HISPANA
Lucy Duarte, Presidenta del Comité.
Las molestas madres, explicaron a PRENSA HISPANA que en varias ocasiones han
sido ignoradas por el Distrito Escolar de Mesa cuando han presentado sus quejas.
