American Hispanics, What We Believe

MESA (By Jon Garrido, Hispanic News) August 5, 2004  - Some of us were born here. Others have become American citizens. Some have no formal citizenship, visas or green cards but we all choose to be Americans by choice.

Some have come here without formal entry but make no mistake in denying them their desire to become productive loving Americans.

There are others who come to America to do Americans harm but this is not us.

This can be seen in the numbers who joined our military (including me during the Viet Nam era) to defend America’s freedom. Just count the number of Hispanic Americans killed in Iraq.

We believe in American ideals and we are family oriented.

We believe and accept the US Constitution as the foundation for our American values and we are grateful to our parents and grandparents for instilling family values that guide us throughout our lives.

Our belief in family may be seen as conservative by some but we believe family is the matrix for mankind which individuals are embedded with to form one society, one nation, one family.

It is family that provides the foundation and characteristics of Hispanic Americans. We love our children. We love our parents. We love our grandparents. We love our neighbors. We love our communities.

And we love our Country, the United States of America.

For these reasons, we are astonished by those who would do anything to lessen the quality of life for any member of our extended family which includes all Hispanic Americans.

For pro abortion Democrats not to approve a nomination to a US court because the nomination is too conservative is not to understand our values, our basis for family, our religion's belief in the sanctity of life.

We are pro life and we abhor the loss of traditional Christian values by some who are advocates and participate in acts forbidden by our Christian teachings.

We believe President Bush's nomination of Miguel Estrada to the federal appeals court in Washington would serve the greater good and particularly gives credence to family values all Hispanic Americans believe in.

To have pro abortion Democrats use a filibuster as a parliamentary procedure to prevent a majority from supporting family values is a slap in the face to all Hispanic Americans.

Pro abortion Democrats slapped all Hispanic Americans the seventh time as Democrats defeated Senate Republicans in a seventh filibuster vote Wednesday in the Senate Republicans fight to make Miguel Estrada the first Hispanic on the federal appeals court in the nation's capital.

Pro abortion Democrats should make no mistake in understanding what we hold to be sacred. To lessen the advancement of any Hispanic we hold as a model for all Hispanics is viewed as an affront to all 37 million Hispanic Americans who are now 13 percent of the U.S. population and growing.

According to the US Census Bureau in 2097, Hispanic Americans will comprise more than 50% of the total US population.

Long ago salsa replaced ketchup as America's number one condiment. As ketchup went by the way side, those that attempt to diminish the values Hispanic Americans hold sacred will some day also go by the way side.
